Will my child have friends who share their first language?

We have many children in our school from different countries and cultures. For most children joining our school who have English as an additional language, this means we are able to pair them with a ‘buddy’ from either their own class or within the school who speaks the same language. We regularly have over 19 languages in our school. Their special buddy will help them settle in and feel comfortable in school whilst they learn the English language and school routines.

Our school is very multi-cultural, and children join us throughout the year from around the world. As such, all of our children make their new friends feel welcome and supported, even when they do not share the same language. It is wonderful to see how children overcome these barriers and begin friendships without a shared language.
