Our Senior Leadership Team

The Academy's Ethos, Aims and Whole School Objectives are driven forwards by the Senior Leadership Team. All experienced teachers, the Senior Leaders meet regularly to ensure the smooth running and ongoing improvement of the Academy. They are passionate practitioners, united in making Cranfield Church of England Academy the very best place to be. Find out more about each Senior Leader and the work of the team below.

Mr Joseph Piatczanyn - Headteacher

Having worked at Cranfield Church of England Academy since 2009 as a teacher, Key Stage One Leader, Key Stage Two Leader, Assistant Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher, I am now very proud to hold the position of Headteacher as of April 2018. Both of our school sites are very special places to be and you can find out more about this in my 'Headteacher's Welcome'. My passion for our school motto of “enjoying, achieving and learning”, and our Academy's strong Christian Values-based ethos, guides me in all decisions made for our children and community. Being Headteacher of Cranfield Church of England Academy is nothing short of a privilege and is aided by the commitment and support of our wonderful Governors, Staff, Children and Parents to making our Academy the very best place to be.

Mrs Jo Dormer - Deputy Headteacher & SENDCo

I am delighted to hold the post of Deputy Headteacher at Cranfield and am based at Saint Peter's Site in Court Road. I have a passion for ensuring every child reaches their full potential within a safe, nurturing environment and am therefore proud to be the school's Inclusion Leader, supporting children with Special & Medical Needs, in addition to those who are our most able, or who have English an Additional Language. I am jointly responsible for Safeguarding within the school, alongside Mr Piatczanyn.

Miss Colette Pidgeon - Deputy Headteacher

I am Deputy Headteacher at Cranfield Academy, based at St. Paul’s Site.  I have worked in a variety of schools over my teaching career and feel privileged to be part of the Cranfield team. My role includes: supporting Mr Piatczanyn with the day to day running of the Academy, working alongside Mrs Dormer across both sites, overseeing the development of foundation subjects within school, liaising and supporting the work of Cranfield Friends who raise much needed funds for the Academy and share responsibility for Safeguarding as Designated Senior Lead with Mrs Dormer.

Miss Tory Hill - Key Stage Two Leader

I thoroughly enjoy my role as Key Stage Two leader at Cranfield Academy. The welcoming atmosphere and nurturing environment has felt like home for 11 years. Having taught Years One to Four across our school, led both Key Stages One and Two and worked on both the St Peters and St Paul's sites I have had the pleasure of working with a team of dedicated staff who inspire pupils in their learning. I am passionate about supporting the staff and pupils I work with to achieving their very best whilst enjoying, achieving and learning each day. I am currently working alongside Mr Piatczaynyn in leading the subject of RE and look forward to enhancing the school further in this area.

Mrs Emma Massey - Key Stage One Leader

I joined Cranfield Academy in 2014 and have enjoyed every moment enjoying, achieving and learning with the children in Year Four and currently Year Two. Having taught for 18 years in Wales and England, Cranfield Academy is positively unique – ‘Cranfield is certainly the place to be’! I was delighted to join the Senior Leadership Team in April 2017 as Interim Key Stage One leader, I am passionate about supporting each child to fulfil their potential to become the best they can be, in all that they do. It is such a rewarding role watching the children flourish and learn from the experiences and opportunities that our wonderful school provides daily. In addition to responsibility for Key Stage One, I also lead Science.

Mrs Lisa Edmond - Reception Leader

I am delighted to be the Reception leader at Cranfield. Having taught elsewhere for over 12 years I joined Cranfield as a Reception class teacher. I quickly discovered a passion for working with some of the youngest children in our school, so was delighted to take on the role of Reception Leader this academic year.  I am also the leader for Mathematics across the school and enjoy seeing and playing a part in the impact the school's super teaching has on our children.
